This was the moment of redemption. He had to show the bachelors the Cullen he lost to the war, the Cullen that breathed life into an empty Lagoon. When he returned to his birth home the current Boss was leaving the islands, leaving the position open. He stepped up with his entire life being lived in a bachelor community. Though his views of females were unpleasant, he had always gotten along with his brothers. His sense of brotherhood was strong! His life before his time as the Lagoon Boss was so much different. The brotherhood he participated in as a young colt and a grown stallion was nothing like this one. No one cried because you hurt their feelings, they got even.

He was forced into the life and he knew nothing else. There was nothing else he could do with his life but be a bachelor. If he suffered the loss of his pride and all his year’s work here…what would he do next? Could he partake in this brotherhood under another’s direction whom would most likely not allow him to continue his life as usual. He could take all his experience elsewhere, off the islands, or he could do the thing he told himself he would never be good at. He could take Varanduil and challenge someone for their land. He could become a territory leader and run his own show with no one to question him as his brothers did. His brothers….

Those stallions he built this place with were gone. Every face he saw here now were all new. They did not know him personally. No one (except Vara), not even Fearghas, has taken the time to get to know him. His bachelors used to know him and they used to be friends. Some had stayed by his side even when they didn’t agree with his actions. That is true brotherhood. Now he had to put his trust in the colts he was raising to be stallions and the deals he makes with strangers. His chances were becoming slim, but he wasn’t going down without a fight. This new young stallion would not win such a big title with him lying in wait to see what happens.

This is why he went to see Goose. ”Do you have brothers Goose? Blood brothers. Do you have them?” He asks the stallion as they make their way back into the Lagoon.
