The Rules
  • There will be no fraternizing with enemies. If you put yourself knowingly in danger, don't expect a rescue.
  • We are only as strong as our weakest link. See to it that you are getting stronger in some skill that is useful, whether it is battling, recruiting, charming, etc.
  • The King and Queen have final say in all matters.
Like a shadow dancing on the edge;

harlequin
6 yrs arabian mutt mare of the desert; Guardian of Cain

Amusement curls her lips upwards as his dark eyes twinkle. Long black tail flicks audibly against her flanks as he comments that about a mouthful of her was one worth whatever repercussions she could drum up. There was a time that such boyish responses might have resulted in her own vanity flaring and irritation coloring her near black eyes. Instead, she finds the impish responses almost charming. Perhaps she really was growing to love him? No. Not love. Surely love would not color itself in the manner her feelings bundled together in an never ending give and take knot. There were moments when she found him to be quite frustrating. His reserve in fighting the pale mare was partially understandable but was he so willing to let another move into what belonged to them? His feelings towards Vihaan were clear as day to her and yet both were too proud to let the words of adoration slip past their lips. Was it love that let her step aside as others flaunted their adoration of him in her eyes? Perhaps. Perhaps it was the same affections that had held her mother so long in Soljor’s grasp and at his whim. While Harlequin was determined to not have nearly as many children as her own mother had, it was perhaps the way in which her mother had shown her love for the paint stallion of the Bay. Harlequin would simply have to think of another way in which to show the same devotion.

The fall in his eyes is not missed, clearly he would have been equally content to continue their banter for a time longer but Harlequin was not one to beat around the bush. She knew she was a brash creature, knew that for some, her forward manner could be seen as rude or even obnoxious but that never phased her. She was who she was and content with it. Cain eyes her curiously, no doubt the words that she spoke were not exactly what he had expected. Truthfully she did not expect it herself until she finally chose to call him to her. Dark eyes close for a moment as a long sigh escapes her lips. ”I have thought about this for a while now….” she begins, turning her dark gaze up at him. ”Both show such promise, but deserve a chance and I cannot help but wonder if together they might prove to be an unstoppable force. Melisma is strong and courageous. She shows determination when others might sway. Berit is kind and tender, her guidance is already seen by our youth and respected.” she continues, pausing to gaze thoughtfully towards the two mares. ”I cannot help but to think that where one lacks, the other might compensate.”

Ears rotate as his softened words ring between them. Affection warms the hardened edges of her heart as he reassures her that her silver tongue was as much a blessing as her own curse. Affectionately she arches her neck to brush tenderly against his own whickered lips. ”It amazes me how you know just just the right words to say sometimes.” she teases, pressing her hip against his shoulder. Ears rotate backwards as an amused grin plays upon her lips, ”I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks.”
