The Vanner stallion immediately lifted his head at the familiar call, his nostrils flaring as if to taste that scent he knew all too well and yet felt it had been far too long since he'd smelled it. Akello, too, looked up with a quick call of his own, letting Vihaan know he was coming as he tossed his head and let out a buck or two in his excitement before galloping in her direction. As the older tobiano galloped over the dunes, he caught sight of his younger brother Ahimsa and noted the way he turned his back on the call. Snorting in confusion, the young stallion called out to him and sowed his gait for a moment to circle him. "Coming, Ahimsa? You never know when you may get to see her again." He gave him a quirked brow expectantly before turning himself back in the direction of her call. He didn't want to lecture his little brother and he didn't know what had happened between them so maybe he just wouldn't understand, but he made a note to himself to talk to Ahimsa about it later, see if maybe there was something he could do to close that rift.

Snorting again, he kicked up his heels one more time in joy before taking off toward the shoreline and the waiting golden figure nearby. The black and white draft stallion was right on his heels as he cleared the last dune toward her, arching his neck and whipping his tail as the mare came into view. Akello grinned from ear to ear, sliding to a stop near her and letting out a welcoming nicker as he reached out to exchange breaths and nuzzle her. "Hello, mother." He greeted her warmly, his golden brown eyes twinkling with glee as he bumped his nose against her warm neck. Of course, after his greeting, he took a step back to let the towering figure of his father step in. Cain's expression had softened as he slowed before them, his eyes only for Vihaan as he moved closer with a deep whicker in greeting. As she started to speak, he pricked his ears, his brown eyes expectant and patient as he waited for the words to come.

When they never did, a soft whisper of pain crossed his gaze before he covered it back up with a soft snort and a shake of his forelock. "It's good to see you, Vihaan." He let the words roll warmly off his tongue, wanting her to know that he would never turn her away or take for granted any time she let him spend in her presence. All the feelings were still there, practically glowing in his gaze every time he looked at her. At her question of Ahimsa, Akello's ears flicked back and forth uncertainly before he spoke. "He seems okay. He's been hanging out with me and Carbon, learning about the Desert and stuff. Did you two have a falling-out?" He wasn't sure if she would tell him anything or not, but he had to at least try. Maybe if he got both sides of the story, he could figure out how to help. Cain gave him a questioning look, probably because he didn't know Ahimsa wasn't planning on coming.

Pain flickered once more in Cain's eyes as he watched the mare look for her missing son on the horizon. When she seemed to accept the fact he wasn't coming, that just about killed the Vanner stallion. He hated to see her hurting about anything and longed to close that distance between them and comfort her. His legs trembled for a moment, fighting that urge to do just that, but he didn't feel like he had the right anymore. She wasn't his anymore. She belonged somewhere else. His ears flicked back at that truth, his chest growing tighter as he forced himself to breathe. Akello's gaze dropped in sadness as well, seeing that forlorn look on his mother's face. He only grew more determined to talk to Ahimsa and fix whatever had happened between them, even if he had to drag the younger stallion here by his mane. When she asked them to give her son a message, Akello nodded his head. "Of course, mother." He knew that was what she wanted to hear, that someone would give that message for her, even if it wasn't what he wanted to do in that moment.

Cain finally found his tongue, meanwhile, having spent the last few moments tenderly memorizing her pretty features. She was just as breathtaking as ever. "And you, have you found yours yet?" He didn't know what he was looking for, exactly. He wanted her to be happy, but he knew in the same token it would kill him to know she was happy with someone else. He almost asked about Everglow but didn't want to pull up old drama or incite Vihaan's protective side when it came to her sister. He knew he probably had no right to ask about her, let alone even have her name on his lips, so he held his tongue.
