He could see he was losing the battle here. His gentle honesty could only get him so far, it would seem. Th stolen glances between Solomon and Chelle made him start to feel like an outsider looking in. The stallion had charm and was using it full-force on the pretty amber mare. She was eating it up like honey and Cain felt helpless to stp the rejection that was coming. At this point, he was starting to feel like she was only indulging him further out of pity...and he didn't like that at all. Maybe if he had enough pride, he would bow out gracefully and leave her with Solomon. Then they could stop this game of charades and she could go with the stallion she had eyes for. He may play the gentle giant but he was no fool and he could see when he was outdone.

But he had to ask himself, what was Solomon giving that he wasn't? After all, he was always learning, always looking for ways to make himself a better stallion, a better leader. Solomon had no shame in showing the pretty mare that she was wanted. Maybe that's where Cain was messing up. He wanted to give the mares all the choices since she acted so cut off from them before, but maybe he was being too giving. She wanted to be admired, too, to be desirable. Okay, he could do that. The Vanner stallion wasn't ready to give up just yet. If she showed him mercy and made her choice, then he would be done and walk away. But until she did, he would keep giving it his all, cause she needed to know she was worth it.

He played the knight in shining armor because that's what he wanted to be for the mares of the islands. He thought by giving a hint of his ugly past, the mare would see that he wasn't trying to portray himself as perfect. In fact, he was far from it. When Solomon gave his cheeky response, Cain's ears flicked back, clearly not amused by his tease. At this point, he felt like the taller stallion was making fun of him and while he was being polite about this whole thing, it didn't mean he had to be the door mat others could walk over. Rougaru learned that the hard way and he would have no issues turning his teeth on the tobiano beside him, either. He just didn't want to put Chelle in the middle of that. She didn't deserve that. Instead, he quirked a brow and looked up to meet the stallion's gaze. "What stallion doesn't like to be in the back pocket of such a pretty mare? I'd say it's as good a place as any."

And there it was. The new glint in his brown gaze should tell Solomon that he was not obtuse to his shadowed bribes. He was alert and very much a male, despite his gentle demeanor. Maybe Chelle wanted them to feel the competitive edge, to convince her they were man enough to handle her. Then, challenge accepted. He flicked an ear forward then to listen as Solomon spoke of the Cove, letting him say his piece just as he had done for himself. He'd heard of the large herd Solomon had amassed for himself, always growing, it would seem. The place must be overrun with mares and foals by this point. However could he fit more without taking over the other herds on the island? The thought alone was amusing, but Cain held his tongue, chosing not to play his own game and take a jab.

It was good strategy for Solomon to allow him to speak first. That way, he could ready his rebuttal to sound more appetizing. And though it was short, Cain could tell the champagne stallion got her attention. He tried to watch her expression as he spoke, taking in any ready reaction she might give him. When he spoke of the Desert, he thought she might like to know it's small, meaning there would be plenty of space for her to catch her bearings without feeling suffocated. Instead, she almost seemed disappointed, but why? He spoke of his family to show his affection for them, the same way he would feel for her if she came with him, but instead, she seemed to withdraw a little as he spoke, like she already felt like she didn't belong. His brows creased a little, trying to understand.

Did she not want to be a guest to choose her home for herself? Other mares with a past of captivity in some form seemed to love the idea, yet she pulled back every time he mentioned it. So maybe, freedom wasn't really what she craved. He needed a new strategy. When she stepped toward them, speaking of their wonderful homes, Cain could already tell she needed more, and he was eager to step up to the plate. She brushed up against his shoulder and the Gypsy stallion gave a shiver of pleasure. He turned his head, allowing his muzzle to brush across her skin just a little, just enough to show a trace of the sensations he could bring to life. He usually wouldn't dare touch a mare without her permission, especially those he knew had a troubled past. But she made the first move by brushing across him so he took that as a dare to see what he would do with it. He wouldn't be too forward, but he would show that he was affected. His tail gently flicked across her legs as she moved past him, giving a final touch before she moved on to do the same to Solomon.

She asked to know them, not their past or their homes. Cain always believed that his past made him who he is today, but if that's not what she wanted, then he would try a different approach. She said that actions speak more than words and asked to see them at their worst. Cain tilted his head before sending a glance to Solomon. Did she want them to fight? If she didn't want them to tell her what they were like and she wanted them to show her what they were like at their worst, what else could she mean? He knew at any point, Solomon could turn dirty and force claim her. Hell, wouldn't that be the worst side? When the idea struck him, he didn't hesitate to act on it. His gaze went back to Chelle, looking almost apologetic before he let out a breath and stepped toward her.

"You ask for actions and you want the worst? It sounds like you want someone to show you what they want, not tell you. As I'm sure you've gathered, this isn't my usual approach, not anymore, but you want something different. Ask and you shall receive, Chelle." Her name rolled off his lips in a purr right before his ears folded back to his skull and he snaked out his neck, landing a nip on her shoulder, just enough to pinch the skin but not to draw blood. Tossing his head, he turned back to Solomon. "You know where to find her if you want her. Meanwhile, I'll be showing her my home and how well she fits in there. Good game, Solomon." Daring to give him a cheeky smirk, Cain flicked his tail and turned back to Chelle. "Now....I believe you can meet the real me better in my home envonment. Shall we?"
