I am the sun in your darkened world;

Twinge was not sure exactly what it was that she was expecting when she came here. Mother had warned her of the dangers that accompanied coming to the main island but Twinge never fully believed her. After all, she had faced many poisonous snakes and slathering coyotes in her adventures with mother. What could be worse than that?

Ears swivel as a handsome painted bay stallion steps through the throng of milling horses, she takes notice. He moves with a purposeful gait, his bright golden yellow eyes focused on her own which caused her own nervous heart to flutter. Paper nostrils flare as she exhales a deep breath. He does not shy away at her proud stance as the others, but offers her a friendly smile. His deep baritones are a pleasant reprieve from the graveled and often stumbling words of the few brave colts that had approached her. Twinge offers him a charming smile, a gleam of self-assurance dancing in her dark amber eyes as she arches her neck proudly and takes a step towards him. ”Do tell me, mysterious stranger…” she taunts playfully, ”Is there anything more fearsome than you?” she asks with a lighthearted chuckle.

However before he can continue on in their playful banter, another appears. Where the first to approach was handsome in looks with his thick and lustrous locks of full mane and tail, this new stranger reminded her more of a mangy coyote with his patches of missing hairs and balding patches the result of battles. She was not so naive to have missed the marks that marred her own father’s black and white coat from adventures past, but she never imagined battles would result in quite so vivid a display. He pauses between them, his golden brown eyes haughty in delivery that immediately causes her skin to crawl with disdain. As if she should be afraid of anything. Nonetheless, she cannot stop herself from flashing him a devilish smile, single brow raising playfully. ”I suppose not everyone can be winners in a battle hmm? Or have you some lavish story about the downfall of your enemies to regale us with?” she asks with a playful flick of her tail.
