Re(8): Why dont you ever play Dancing Queen?

I get plenty of kudos, they're called upvotes elsewhere. No offense, but the only kudos that impress me are from people whose bios are better in mine and in disciplines I only picked up, didnt actually study.

Honestly, you see me short on my intellectual abilities. TV reporting paid me to learn some about so many elements of society. I can write a decent essay on most topics, tho admittedly my knowledge is somewhat superficial in some areas. Like science and math. But my kids are smart in those so I know who to ask. Its pretty cool having your offspring spin off into expertise of their own, who make more money than I ever did and who have letters after their names. I went from the most educated in my family now to the least educated.

I remember the night my first born came into this world...I was driving across the northland bridge home from the hospital after working at HB, and it occurred to me the real reward of fatherhood, of leaving someone who will be around past me. Pretty deep thoughts for a guy in his mid 20s at the time but I remember it to this day. I even wrote him a long letter that night, predicting Carter would win the presidency that fall!

I don't really see you as an expert in capitalism, unless you're just selling your own services, which we all do, if ya come to think about it.

Your business isn't really an exzmple of capitalism since you dont invest in equipment or inventory, do you? I admit not being one either, tho I've worked for them. I've always provided services, and honestly, I'm a bit risk aversive to invest my savings in a chancy business. We'll need that money to live on, probably. Wife's even more risk aversive than I am but finally our advisor told her she was just barely keeping up with inflation so she finally gave in and moved her assets to more moneymaking investments.

wE'RE way past starting businesses, we've got wheels down and we're on final approach, now both of retired. We chose to invest in our kids and now grandkids.

I remember being so incensed at a colleague who made a great salary as a contract programmer but who threw his kids out of the house at 18 right out of high school, no college help, and he went out and bought himself a big boat. I couldn't hardly talk to him after that. What a mental midget!
