Win, lose or Die, it didn’t matter to Hietala. This battle will go down in history, and one day her name will be remembered as legend. Even if she must be the villain, so be it. Life has dealt her a hand and she must play it. There is no gambling with fate and no one can cheat death for long. It’s her will to survive that has kept her alive for this long, and now as she paints the ground with her blood and the blood of her enemy, she feels alive again. This will be her final fight.
Nymeria and the mountainborn family were not her true enemy, and she had no reason to make them one either. She had sought a peaceful transition of power, a coup at best. She had not expected to meet an obstacle, but she had met it head on. As she always has, and as she has always been taught to do. She must stand her ground. For she was the last Ice Queen of her father’s empire. No one stands in the way of a glacier.
The light is fading, and so is her strength. Nymeria is a younger and indeed a formidable opponent. Hietala almost wants to apologize as she spits out blood and clumps of fur. She’s giving it all that she’s got, but her lungs are starting to burn, her legs are starting to shake. She feels something clamp down into her neck. “I….” she hisses through gritted teeth, “I will die on my paws!” The fallen queen declares, curling her spine and throwing what she had left up into Nymeria’s jaws. With her front legs dangling off the earth, all she can do now is pant as she waits for death's kiss.
She feels the victor clamp around her neck and she closes her eyes. She will accept her death, and she will welcome it with open arms. Her legs stop twitching, and she feels her racing heartbeat beginning to slow. Please make this fast mountainborn. One bite more or one push down that cliff face, and I am out of your life forever. Darkness takes over the rest of her vision. “Emmelie,” her little puppy's smiling face comes into view. The corners of her black lips twitch up into a maternal smile, “My sweet little daughter, mummy’s coming to sleep next to you tonight among the stars….”
Thump, thump, thunmp, “Ashi-” she hisses and gasps as she is suddenly thrown to the ground. At first she is too stunned to react until she realizes what has just happened. “How dare you!” She barks and tries to bite her little brother's ankle. For a few moments, all she can do is breath. Everything hurts now. All she wanted to do was escape this rotten world, all it’s given her is pain. She feels the blood that has matted around her neck and she glares in defiance, but not at Nymeria, at her stupid half wit of a brother.
“How dare you cheat the moon goddess twice, my boy?” She snears, showing her bloody fangs at him before she starts to giggle softly. Orange eyes staring off to the stars as she whispers, “You’re a dead prince walking anyway.”
Yours Sincerely,
Hietala *, The Fallen Ice Queen
