Hi! I came across this site just now and I have a few questions about how it works! The rules say that no fantasy elements are allowed—does this include in backstories too, or can we say that a character had fantasy colors/powers before but they got yoinked when they came to these islands? Also, can new characters without lineages have been born in the islands, or do they have to come here from somewhere else?
Also, I'd like some clarification on the claiming and fighting mechanics! Is claiming guaranteed OOC to succeed, or just an IC attempt? For locations where claiming is forbidden, does that mean there's no OOC guarantee to be successful but that horses can IC attempt to claim each other, or that there's some kind of IC pact not to make an attempt? It seems a bit odd both ways, because even if claiming is OOC, IC actions might vary and a less strong claimed might not be able to realistically claim a stronger target, but I'm not sure what the point is of assigning a purely IC action its own mechanic, so I wanted to ask and make sure!
For fighting, do all fights have to take place in the battle board? For example, if someone wants to attack someone to fight for their freedom in the middle of a thread, can the battle be roleplayed out in the thread and posted to the battle board for judging? Or a dice roll battle to determine the outcome of a battle that will be roleplayed IC but where players don't want to be restricted by rounds? Replies:
