Every time I hear anyone talk about Joe Biden’s abandonment of Afghanistan, I think of the CSN&Y song “Déjà Vu” and the line, “We have all been here before, we have all been here before…"
Been WHERE before? Well, as our military wraps up its last few days in Kabul, I keep thinking of Jerry Ford’s 1975 evacuation of Saigon.
I think of a picture of a US helicopter atop a building in Saigon in 1975. A crew member is helping evacuees into the chopper, as the city fell to advancing North Vietnamese troops.
Will we see a similar picture of a helicopter atop a building in Kabul in 2021? Will we see crewmembers from that chopper helping evacuees board as Taliban terrorists take over that city?
