Frey would grow up to disappoint his father, and that was okay. He had no way of knowing it yet, but destiny has a way of getting the better of you. The gods had a way of making sure things went to plan, after all. The plan for this colt… things were a lot bigger than he was. Larger than life, if the size of the colt had anything to do with it. Large for a boy, and he’d be large for a man. Larger than life with a story already written in the stars.
He looks to the man, head canting slightly to the side. They hadn’t left together… traveling alone was dangerous in the winter. Frey wouldn’t chastise him, but it made him nervous. Were they running from something? From someone? Escaped convicts of some sort? No, this stranger seemed too mild mannered, but perhaps Frey was being deceived.
Nah, Frey decided that the bulky stallion before him was probably alright. He finally agrees, likely noting the “You can come with me to the Lagoon, it’s not far. You don’t even have to swim more.” Frey’s ears flickered, gaze settling on the stranger’s face, waiting for a reaction of some sort. He considers the men he’d met recently, the ones who viewed the bachelors in a negative light. Maybe this stranger was someone who was coming back after being away, or maybe he was new entirely.
The silence is almost uncomfortable, and he’s grateful when the stranger breaks it. “You’re the only one I’ve seen out here tonight,” the colt trails off, nearly sheepish. Should he apologize? Shit, he hadn’t even introduced himself. “Rude of me to not introduce myself, sorry. I’m Frey.” Right, his manners. Frey’s mother would have likely been embarrassed of him, especially in a moment like this. No matter. No harm, no foul? He could hope.
