I think you're stereotyping. Walmart aint no Wild Woodys or some discount house on Raytown Road where the trailer trash live.
Everybody shops at Walmart because of the prices. You know that because nice cars fill their parking lots along with the junkheaps, and upscale malls display more parking stripes than cars in between them.
You're just not used to seeing the riff-raff low incoming people getting the same Chinese goods YOU are!
Walmart has a strategy of buying large scale nobody else can match. I know this. I was the IT manager for a large Chinese owned manufacturer and distributor of goods made over there and sold to Walmart, Target, and other specialty national outlets. Walmart sells in their stores for less money than most US retailers pay FOB for.
Thats because Walmart has offices in China, buys and ships by the shipload, bypassing our distribution systems.
Some manufacturers will sell goods at COST just to keep their factories open when retail sales are slow. They dont set the price....Walmart does, and says if you don't take what we give you, we'll just buy from somebody else! Thats competition involving millions of dollars. And its why third world countries are making everything and we're not! The textile (clothing) industry all over the South is gone because of them.
And then they can open up superstores and run whole small town merchants out of business by selling their products for less than the small guys can even buy it wholesale.
That's their marketing plan and they're the richest people on the planet because of it. Amazon does the same thing.
If America starts feeling economically light headed, it's because the Walmarts of the world are taking the life blood out of our economy.
I couldnt stand Trump but it is one of the things that concerned him; only China has the ability to call his bluff and they did. They own a lot of our paper, ya know!
