Wrong jack. It was self defense, under the rules we give cops claiming to fear for their lives. Can't have it both ways.
Race was involved because of the cop shooting that started the protests. City should be sued for letting Rittenburger in there with a gun.
What we need is an end to the informal "when you fear for your lives, with or without a gun SHOOT TO KILL in the chest mass."
Time to charge every cop who shoots an unarmed man with VOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER and do what prosecutors do, make the accused PROVE his innocence; Fine if the city defends him unless they dont want to.
Time to revise police RULES OF ENGAGEMENT training to what soldiers have, DONT FIRE UNTIL YOURE FIRED UPON! that's the rule in occupied cities around the world.
Police shouldn't get off free by claiming they 'followed police rules of engagement that favor killing people first, asking questions later.
Used to be, police held an Operation 100, called in negotiators and enough backups. Wonder how many cop shootings happen before supervisors are even called to decide if negotiators are the best course of action. Or is that just on TV?
