Tell me a story...

&Evalyn.
she's a fighter with no one beside her

The chill in the air seemed to bate a bit when the stallion positioned himself against the wind. Evalyn peered up at him and tilted her head as if she were contemplating the action. She couldn't say that it was natural instinct, for how many times had she seen the mares of her old herd shielding themselves from the cold and the stallions did not change position to ease their discomfort? Perhaps he was a different sort, she mused. She certainly was appreciative of it. While the cold still settled hard against the frosty fur upon her back, the wind that he blocked had caused more discomfort to her eyes and ears. She shifted when he spoke his name, tipping her ears forward, intent on catching the unique sound as it fell from his lips. Her lopsided smile of usual crawled to her lips. "Višarr." She sounded it outloud, more for herself than for his own ears to hear repeated back to him.

Realization dawned on her that she was no longer panicking. Though her mind was still somewhat racing with the unfamiliarity of the situation, her heart no longer pattered in her chest as if it would race right out of her. Her body had relaxed a bit, muscles finally loosening so that her rump was no longer tensed and a hind hoof had cocked forward to hover on the tip against the frozen ground. Something about this stallion spoke safety. She knew, perhaps inherently from his demeanor, that he would not harm her. In fact, his attitude spoke that though they were strangers, he would do his earnest to protect her should any dangers arise. Her eyes skittered in the direction he pointed and she found herself squinting as she tried to peer out over the waters. Her nostrils flared and twitched and she drew her gaze back as he continued on, certain that he was joking. Though, he didn't sound as if he were. She blinked, "So, you want me to go swimming again?" She piped up quietly, eyes widening as if she absolutely could not believe he would suggest such a thing. It sounded crazy. Today had been an absolute mess and she was...was she actually considering his offer? She would freeze to death. Ah, but she would freeze if she stayed. To say the least, there were probably less thoughtful stallions roaming these lands that certainly wouldn't ask her if she wanted to go with them. She glanced back to the water, her inner turmoil doing a number on the peace of mind she'd gained in the last few moments.

After a moment, she allowed a small laugh to pass her lips and she nodded. "Please lead the way, Višarr." She fell back into her own silence. Stretching her neck out, she shook her ivory lock to rid the frost from the wavy strands. When she finished she took a moment to muse to herself just how pointless that was. She was about to go back into the frigid waters and she was shaking the frost off as if she wouldn't come out of the water near frozen again anyway? She chuckled quietly at herself and peered up at him to see if he'd noticed her absurdity.

in a corner alone on the ropes;
she's a letdown away from a terrible place
she'll fix every scar but her own
