Where have all the radio posts gone

Somebody in here, who claims to be Lanterman but probably is really Jim compains, 'this is a radio board, dont talk politics or economics'.

But most posts in the past have just been Jim and me. Now that we're not engaging in schoolyard bullying anymore, new posts are way down, except for snowman and an occasional anchorchange on the TV side.

Just like Christmascards and valentines, ya gotta SEND EM to GET EM.

So whats new in the business? I've been in social media but my son's been sending me podcasts, long form audio discussions. Some really interesting stuff since I'm a news junky and politico watcher.

I noticed that iHeart hosts a lot of podcasts along with Apple. Wondering why radio corporations with useless AM signals dont do podcasts...thats a lot of interesting content, far more interesting than KMBZ's fluffy cackling backyard fence talk.

And they employ really good guests and we don't have to listen to amateur listeners who don't know what they don't know.

Will talk radio come back now that Rush and the teaparty nutcases have found their nitche?

I've never seen ratings for NPR so I dont know how much listenership they actually have, given that ratings are mostly offer comparison numbers between subscriber stations.

KC'd be a good market for 20-40 minute podcasts since it takes that long to drive to and from work.

Not so much in small towns were ya can drive clear across their little metros in 15 minutes, or 3 songs and a spot break.

Apple needs a way to record prime time satellite radio in the middle of the night and then commuters can BlueTooth into their car audio and listen on the way to work. It doesn't hve to be live in the morning, for most morning talk is just rehashing yesterday's news anyway except in European news where the day's already half over here in the states.

I think podcasts, being shorter than talk show's 3 hour shifts would be much more listenable in 15-30 minute shorter blocks.

I'm surprised TV stations don't actually put up viewable content on their subchannels. Most of it is a total waste of bandwidth. I've never heard why they bothered to even get licenses for them since they apparently dont want to compete with their flagship network programming is.

Do you know? I'm only suggesting that radio and TV tend to sound very much the same, either pop rock or country on the radio or old TV shows on the TV affiliates' upper channels.
