ori

Ori laughed, a deep rumble in his broad chest. “I don’t know, Isla sounds like quite a mouthful,” he teased. “Mine is just as complicated. Although, I can’t object to the flattering nickname,” he said with a bashful bob of his head. The tall stallion wasn’t a stranger to flirting, but it never got old when his efforts were reciprocated. He felt the tingling of a blush creep over his sooty cheeks, warming his face. He wondered if Isla could see. “I go by Ori,” he offered.

A bitter breeze swept around them, nipping at the tips of Ori’s dark ears and sending his tail fluttering gently around his legs. It lifted some of the leaves as well, causing a tiny tidal wave to form in some of the more densely covered parts of the ground. Ori shivered lightly, but he wasn’t truly cold. In any case, he had the pleasant, mild heat of an interaction with a pretty stranger to keep him comfortable — at least until it began to snow.

“What brought you back here?” He asked, genuine curiosity in his warm voice. He was aware of the great lack of knowledge he possessed about this place, but there was definitely something about it that just seemed… different to him. He couldn’t quite place the feeling, however. It seemed to draw him in, very gently; he wondered if Isla felt the same pull. Or maybe it was different for one who was born to this place. “Does your family still live here?”

Another shiver crawled over his dark gold hide. Ori shifted in place, trying to mask the movement, ever so slightly embarrassed by feeling the chill of the season. He wasn’t even a warm-weather stallion; in fact, he usually fared well in the winter. It was mostly the transition, he figured; he had come from somewhere warm, and now he was slowly adjusting. Not to mention, the warmth from the rosy mare’s body was extra inviting with the bite of winter at his back — but asking to share in it was far too bold for mostly-shy Ori.
