Some people, either by their own experiences or the media they habitually follow, hate and distrust governments. Many are very heavy handed and all of them have awesome powers and the force to exercise them if their leaders have bad intent.
Certainly true of most demagogues and even many democracies.
Fox and the right wing in the US play on those fears and only seek to replace the existing heavy handed government with their own.
Yeah, it sucks. All I do is truthcheck on my so called 'enemies' list of sites that sow distrust but the zealots wont change and while fewer but gathered enmass on those sites, they do talk the loudest.
When you're effective in your writing (as I do mine) don't look for much agreement. They'll just slow disappear from radical sites and hopefully will vote next time for better leaders and change their own behavior to be more earth and people friendly.
When it comes to covid, I DON'T expect the die hards to mask up, it'll take a close friend or loved one to get surprisingly infected and have a bad time of it to make them swallow hard and change their minds.
its human nature to resist new thinking based on evidence. We're stubborn and hate to admit we've been hoodwinked!
I get your frustration. I've been soldiering in the good fight since Ronald Reagan was president. We have our decent leaders and not so decent ones.
We have good cops and bully cops no matter who's been elected leader. Yeah, it sucks. Look at it this way, if you work to change us to a 'more perfect union', you're a patriot and the good guys will notice you for it. If they don't, just know that your life was well spent trying to lend a hand.
