~ never ever mistake her silence for weakness

Aaslan. Rom. she whispers gently into the star laden heavens.

She had left the Islands to find her precious son - she knew that if she had told Romulus that he would of refused - so she stole away in the middle of night. She knew that when she returned to his side that she would be forgiven, that he would welcome her back into his arms with a warm smile and perhaps some stern words. But these both she now eagerly looked forward to.

Each stroke brought her closer to him - and maybe in her absence - Aaslan had returned to find her gone. Her heart quickens in her chest as she wills her tiring legs to swim against the ocean's current. A low rumble and a flash of lightning draws her eyes to the distant horizon, fear grips at her throat and belly. She swallows back the tight feeling in her throat - the only way to him is through the brewing storm.

The turbulent ocean washes around the weary marwari mare as she stumbles through the surf and collapses on the sand. Lightning flashes overhead as the heavens unleash its wrath upon the Islands. She lays heaving in the sand as the rain washes the salt from her russet coat and trickles down her side. Dhaniyā closes her swollen eyes and falls into a fitful sleep. She dreams of their faces. The sound of his voice as he whispers into her delicately curved ears.

She had not been slumbering long when a voice cuts through the darkness. She swivels a single ear to catch the sound of their voice and parts her cracked lips to respond but only a squeak leaves her mouth. She fights back the fear in her chest and swallows - her dry throat protests. "Am I on the Lost Islands?" she manages to whisper. She can feel the gentle rain as it washes over her body, the rain is cold and chills her. The shivers involuntarily shake the weary muscles beneath her thin russet coat.

Perhaps this stranger could show her the way to her beloved... and to their son.
