PRIME MINISTER'S DECREE

"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

Vesna. Gavriel. Róisín memorized their names and faces, storing them alongside the other tidbits of information that she had gleaned from their conversation. She watched as they looked to each other for comfort, clearly not yet at ease in the Peak. Róisín would be lying if she claimed that seeing the massive stallion uneasy did not bring her some measure of comfort; so long as he did nothing to incur the wrath of the sisters, no harm would befall him... but a healthy dose of fear would keep him careful on these rocky paths.

Solomon, he says, after she questions and the dun mare pulls back slightly in surprise. She knew that name. She didn't know him of course, but he had been a side character in her mother's tales of Tinuvel. He had stayed home in the Cove to watch over his newborn while Ysabel - having just delivered their son - rushed across enemy lines to rescue her mother with Ailill. Róisín had always considered him a bit of a coward, despite the friendly way that her mother spoke of him. She had only heard his name once more since then, and only in passing after Oswin had made a trip there to see family on her original tour to see all of the island's herds.

"I know of him," Róisín said evenly, and then more gently as her gaze slipped back to Vesna. "You are not the first of his family to take shelter here, Vesna." A smile, the first true one that she'd offered, touched her lips momentarily. "Given his reputation, I imagine you won't be the last of his kin to wander onto Peak shores either."

It was a weak joke, but Róisín hoped a slight amount of lightness might alleviate some of their tension. Whatever it was that they feared was clearly weighing on them, but it didn't sound like it was pursuing them so closely that they would need to flee or face their demons right away. "She will be safe here," Róisín offered with more confidence than she truly had. Each time that she tried to provide those that she cared about with assurances, she was proven wrong. But she could not turn away this earnest pair without some sort of promise.

She'd just have to find a way to keep it.

"Unless you have more questions for me, I'll leave the two of you to say your goodbyes," the dun murmured with an inclination of her head to them both. She was not trying to rush them, but it almost felt as though there were still things between the two of them that would be better said without a stranger looking in on their conversation. She lifted her gaze back to Vesna with a softer smile. "I'll stick close, so when you're ready, I can show you around."

other people feel brave, but i feel like my heart
