It was selfishness that drew him across the commons that day, nostrils quivering with the scent of passing mares. He was disinterested in most, or others had far too many suitors and he didn't care enough to intervene. His ever-green eyes fell on Penelope and at first the spotted stallion made to pass. However she moved to the side of a resting yearling, standing protectively near the comically larger than her child. The thicket king stopped and turned his full attention to her. A child. One he could open his home to. His own son, Masamune, was lonely. And so it was a selfish thought that the small colt might have someone closer to his own age around. With a soft nicker, he stepped closer.
His pale mane stirred in the wind's dance, tickling his thickly curled neck. His ears pressed forward and he drew his muzzle toward his chest.
"Hello," he nodded to each of them, idly flicking his tail against his relaxed haunches.
"I am," he paused a moment, considering how he'd introduce himself. Had he officially decided upon using his own name once again? There were moments when he desperately wanted to be Sephiroth, son of Solomon. And others where he simply wanted to
be.
His expression hardened slightly but he blinked, a softness returning to his shining emerald eyes.
"Sephiroth. Might I interest you in joining me in the Thicket of Luthien?" The Thicket. His thicket. He'd lost it once before but it was his and a home he would make it. For himself and for those that would stand with him. He would make the family he always wanted. The Tinuvel frost on his heart was melting each day a little more.
