IPARRALDE (FRANCE)--SUMMER LEAGUE MASTERS PRO--BIARRITZ--PAU--ST. JEAN DE LUZ--AND SUMMER LEAGUE HOPEFULS--QUINIELA TOURNEYS BEGIN Posted on July 5, 2023 at 09:50:49 PM by jsolo
This is the main Cesta Punta Pro Tour link to all player, matchup, and score information for all three major Iparralde Tournaments this Summer, running from July 6, 2023 to September 7, 2023. The three Tournaments are:
1. DONIBANE LOHIZUNE (St. Jean de Luz)--4 Master Grand Slam Tournaments (consisting of 2 semi-finals and a final) and a SLAM Tournament--The 4 top fronts and top backs (determined by individual scoring in the earlier Tournaments) will face off in 2 semis and a final for the Championship. These matches are always played on TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS, beginning tomorrow, June 6, 2023: 1st Semi-Final, Master 1.
2. BIARRITZ (aka Gant d'Or). Same format--4 Master Grand Slam Tournaments followed by a SLAM Tournament. These matches are always played on MONDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS, beginning next Monday, July 7, 1st Semi-final, Master 1.
3. PAU. Same format except that there are only 2 Master Grand Slam Tournaments followed by a SLAM Tournament. These matches are always played on FRIDAYS, beginning this Friday, July 7, 1st Semi-final, Master 1. The Schedule is
BIARRITZ: 1ST Semi-final: 8/21/23
ST. JEAN DE LUZ: 1ST Semi-Final: 8/22/23
BIARRITZ: 2ND Semi-Final: 8/23/23
Note: BIARRITZ SLAM SCHEDULE ONLY SHOWS MATCHES FOR 8/21 AND 8/23 AT THE MOMENT. THIS COULD MEAN THERE WILL BE TWO SEMI FINALS ON THE 21st, OR IT COULD MEAN THAT THE SCHEDULE FOR THIS TOURNAMENT IS MISSING A DATE AT THE SITE. I WILL KEEP AN EYE ON THIS AND LET YOU KNOW AS I KNOW.
ST. JEAN DE LUZ: 2ND Semi-Final: 8/24/23
PAU: 1ST Semi-Final: 8/25/23
ST. JEAN DE LUZ: FINAL: 8/29/23
PAU: 2ND Semi-final: 9/1/23
PAU FINAL: 9/7/23
WHAT IT ALL MEANS IS THAT STARTING TOMORROW THERE WILL BE TOURNAMENT ACTION EVERY MONDAY-FRIDAY (with the exception of Friday, July 14 [Bastille Day])
STREAMING.
THE INFO PAGE SAYS THAT "Canal+ Sport, France Bleu and EITB" are partners in the event. What that means for streaming is unknown at this time.
PREVIOUS STREAMING FOR ST. JEAN DE LUZ WAS BY CANAL + AND STREAMED LIVE AND ON DEMAND AT THE ST.JEAN DE LUZ CESTA PUNTA YOUTUBE SITE.

CUT AND PASTE
Check the main page, "live" or "videos" as they were inconsistent on where they put the archived matches for the recently completed Cesta All Star Tournament.
Biarritz, in the past has used volunteers to stream their matches on the Gant D'or Cesta Punta Facebook site.
Note. These were not commercial quality streams, but were good streams. It may be that the networks above will take over the finals of these Tournaments. If that happens, I will point you to them as I find them.
The same goes for Pau. Last year the Pau Streams were available at the Section Paloise Pelote Facebook Page.

What is the case for Biarritz is also the case for Pau. The big networks may be picking these matches up. In each case this may mean less availability rather than more for out of country viewing. France Bleu, in the past, has shut out all non-French access. Canal + is only available through the above listed SJDL Youtube site. If they decide to stream directly, access to that may be cut off as well. So there could be a lot of streams available, or less streams available than before depending on how it all shakes out. I have no idea where EITB is involved in this process. They will be covering the Semis and Final of the Guernica Tournament later in July and August, but as to these Iparralde matches, your guess is as good as mine.
I will be providing match articles when I find them (Pau is good with this, St. Jean de Luz spotty, and Biarritz has been non-existent in the past). The Hegoalde (Spain) Basque newspapers in the past have barely, if at all, covered the Iparralde (French) Tournaments. Extensive French coverage is availalbe via _Sud-Ouest_ newspaper, but it is blocked by a pay wall. I will pass on whatever I find, with original links and Google Translations. I am going to use this thread to cover everything, so that you can go back at any time to find anything. I will provide no spoiler links along with spoiler links when I find articles. But again, the main link below will provide you with all the basic information you will need to follow these Tournaments.
Information about the Quiniela Hopefuls (young Group B Players) Tournament is scarce at present. Streaming information is non-existent at present.
