Hi Bennett - dd here and I just wanted to make this observation though it may not relate to your question. If I remember correctly it was just prior to or around the strike years that Newport was using a different pelota for the early game players and then bringing in the real pelota from game 7 on. This was not the pro roster that Newport had for years but the other roster they brought in -the pelota in the early games didn't have the distinctive clack off the wall nor did it come off the front wall with any momentum. It was obvious to anyone who had watched and followed the sport that this was the case . I think we all just sort of assumed they were trying to make it easier for some of the new inexperienced players. Just my thoughts. Replies:
