Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

did you ever think that if you got everything
all the records they don't play the same

I’ll allow it. Miriella snorted hard and cracked her pale tail against her haunches. He knew exactly how to get under her skin, and just three little words had the effect he’d wanted them to. “How gracious of you,” she replied with a low tone that very clearly revealed her barely-contained rage.

Two days, then he would come for her. Miriella imagined him thundering across the Prairie, attacking any who tried to get in his way and protect her from being brought back to the Lagoon. As wonderful as it was to briefly imagine, it was riddled with too many holes to be believed. Firstly, of course, was that Miriella didn’t plan to spend any more time on Luthien than she had to; she also was hoping to avoid her father altogether. Despite behaving as though she loathed it here, Miriella would be even angrier if her father tried to intervene and pull her from the Lagoon.

Not that he ever would.

Miriella forcefully shoved thoughts of her father and all the ways she felt he’d failed her aside. “Fine,” she agreed, “Two days.” It was better to not let him know she intended to come back quickly. Miriella couldn’t look too eager, could she? No, she’d push Elaine toward Luthien in the morning, find Leliel, guilt her into taking the girl and then swim back to Crossing Isle. Maybe she’d find somewhere in the Falls or the Ruins to hide out her time, pretending she wouldn’t be thinking about Vadim and wondering if he was thinking about her, too. Then, on the second day, she’d return to the Lagoon. She’d pretend she was annoyed by it; she’d pretend she had some place to go that wasn’t here, that wasn’t at Vadim’s side.

Lies. All lies.

She could leave then, now that he’d provided his answer, and she knew she should, but Miriella found herself lingering. She wasn’t ready to move physically away from his presence, and every inch of her was still aching for his touch. But to admit that was to give in to his power, so again she diverted her thoughts and the conversation to her excuse: their daughter. “Did you… want to meet her?” Miriella wasn’t sure if she cared whether he did or didn’t, or what he’d think of Elaine. Up until that moment she could have sworn she wouldn’t care, but standing in this space with him she was suddenly very aware they were talking about the life they created. A piece of herself and a piece of him, existing outside of themselves. Something swelled almost painfully in her chest, quick and sharp, and she felt a trickle of doubt in her mind that she really wanted to cast the girl away to never see her again.

Yet, like with any feeling that might bring any softness, it needed to be shoved away and buried. Of course she wanted to get rid of the girl. She wasn’t a good mother and she didn’t have the capacity to be. This doubt was unfounded. Getting rid of her was absolutely for the best and she should be thankful Vadim so clearly agreed. What did she expect, that he’d want them to be a happy little family? Things like that didn’t happen for a mare like Miriella and, by her assumption, that was never the sort of life Vadim would care to lead either.
