My conclusion was badly edited... I mean to say I DID get out of TV when they started cutting staffs and just adding more weather segments and more voice overs and fewer longer length packages. Stations just didn't replace expensive reporters. And filled newscasts with putting up VO's and VOSB's based on news releases... ya can't cover news if you don't have a beat system like newspapers do. And Newspapers have cut back too so last century's enterprise reporting just doesn't happen. Similarly, ABC, CBS, CNN and MSNBC now resort to politics and interviewing each OTHER because their affiliate TV stations aren't preparing packages abt economics and issues anymore of national interest.
TV just isn't all that fun anymore. They're filling time and when the newscast is full, they go home and come back and do just enough to fill tomorrow's newscasts! Replies:
