If anything, the mindset in the firehouse shouldn’t be to “beat out” the other companies at all costs but first and foremost make it there safely. Then when on scene, slow down. Especially if there’s no civilian trapped or FF requiring rescue.
I’m not even referencing this latest LODD because i don’t know all the circumstances. What I see on the fireground is people fumbling around, guys tripping over hose, dropping equipment, forgetting helmets, etc. because they get so caught up in the moment. It doesn’t help you have these screaming bosses giving contradictory information. That isn’t from recent candidates. We are talking about experienced firefighters, who have been under several different commissioners. It doesn’t just all fall on Holt. Replies:
