turning men into beasts

to run is to die tired

As Oswin spoke, Tyr found himself quietly nodding along in agreement. Although he had been challenged by Jigsaw multiple times and had even gotten to knock Psych around a few times, the life of a herd stallion had been more civilized and quieter than he had even faced before. To stay in one place all the time; to be satisfied with the same scenery, and not be filled with wanderlust; it was all foreign to the draft stallion. When Oswin redirected the question to him, Tyr couldn’t help the deep sigh that escaped him.

“I miss the old days in the Lagoon, when I was General.” Tyr replied. When Rade had been Boss, and the strive for being better had some strength behind it. When the Lagoon had lost Rade, and Tyr became Boss, it seemed the brotherhood had been as lost and as directionless as he had been. Tyr would not admit to using Reho as bait for the Peak, to see if they would have the same bold statement of freedom for a stallion as they did their fellow mares. When they had not freed the imprisoned painted stallion, Tyr had begun to sullenly regret some of his decisions regarding the acclaimed powerful Peak.

How he felt for the Peak as a whole, had never seemed to attach itself to Oswin herself in his eyes. Even now as he looked at her, Tyr only saw the strong mare at his side. The mother of their children, and his partner here in the Ridge. “Just because we live here now, does not mean you cannot carry on the work you once cherished.” Tyr pointed out. “You have just as much power now, as you ever did.” Tyr had long since given up his own work of making a home suitable for young stallions to grow up safely, yet free of their sire’s careful watch. But that did not mean Oswin had to give up her desire for setting free the imprisoned, and righting wrongs that she found.
