SEA, SWALLOW ME

ATTICUS
the lagoon tyr x kiraz akhal teke mix 17.3hh

He'd been someone else once. When Atticus had first arrived on the sandy edge of the Shore he'd done it for a sense of good and justice, and a desire to have a family. Protect a family. And when he'd lost it, it had sent him into despair. His children were practically strangers to him. Aylin had died shortly after Nox's death and he'd never stepped forward to claim the dark colt, whose face he could not bare to look into. Zira...he'd been a little closer to her, at least in proximity, but he had not spoken to her more than a few words over their two years together. Even when Vitani had left her screaming in the shallows of the Lagoon he remained where he was.

Though despite all his faults and flaws, Atticus was still nearly ethereal in appearance. It was clear that, though he could have walked, he had swam around the edge of the mainland. As he stepped from the icy-cold waves, the water that remained on his back had frozen and crystallized. Like individual diamonds it glimmered across his golden pelt and sparkled in his long strands of pale blonde hair.

The expression on his face was less beautiful. It was pained. Dark. Lonely. There was regret in his face, in the tightness of his jaw and the curl of his lip. He had never gotten close to any of his brothers, not even the ones who were literally his brothers. He didn't have a shoulder to cry on after the loss of his home. It was his own negligence that had cost him the Shore, something that no matter how much he tried, he could not forget.

When he comes across Halcyon and the stallion who sought to claim her, he stopped several paces away. He watched the interaction quietly for a moment, but he needed to say something. Was it a need for closure? Or was it something else swirling around in that loud head of his.

"She had a home...once," he said, his voice deep, a stark contrast from the elf-like features and thick lashes. His pale gaze fell on Halcyon, and there is sorrow in the lines of his face. He knows he can stop it. He can step in, insist she not go home with him. It wouldn't serve a single purpose. He didn't have a home to offer her. The Shore was no longer his. And he'd seen what bringing home Vitani had done. "The leader failed her. Can you swear you won't?" He turns now to look at him, narrowing his gaze slightly. His expression is cutting but it's clear, it's more than just the Lagoon talking.
