Vadim

stallion | draft x | dunalino pintaloosa | 18hhs

After being kept prisoner three times now, Vadim was wary of losing his freedom again. Although Arsinoe was one of his supposed jailors, he did not think she would abandon him like the Lagoon had. If he was not accounted for, whether by choice to not return, or to truly take his place at her side; then he knew she would come for him. Sarama would no doubt be even quicker without so many responsibilities to distract her as Arsinoe.

Still, her words did give him pause. No matter where Vadim went, unless he became his own King and ruled a land under his law, he would always be vulnerable to the same means she spoke of. So what was the Commons so dangerous of, that no where else wasn’t?

When she stepped towards him, offering to exchange breaths, Vadim did not hesitate. He dropped his head slightly so that his muzzle nearly brushed her own before pulling away just enough to be respectful. He didn’t even know her name. But neither would someone willing to claim her either. They would lay teeth on her flesh, driving her without a second thought into the sea. While Vadim was apparently too thoughtful to even brush his nose against her own. It was certainly a long way from the behavior he had displayed when Arsinoe had taken him away.

“I have plenty to think about.” he replied, but Vadim hung onto the stranger’s words, even as he tried to give her a better answer. “I’m at the point where I have to decide what the rest of my life is going to be like.” Wasn’t that the same cross road that had brought her here? Vadim, as soft-hearted as he truly was, wanted to believe that maybe fate had brought them together. But realistically, Vadim doubted he would see her passed this day. It didn’t matter though. He would enjoy her company while he had it, and she would make the decision of whether she wanted to continue with his company or not. At least…. Until he had the ability to do more. Such as offer a home, shelter and security that she no doubt wanted along with a companion.

“What might those suitable interests be, if I may ask?” Vadim said boldly, though offered her a small crooked smile. It wasn’t the same malicious one he had given in seasons passed. Instead, Vadim knew she could laugh his words off as a joke just as easily as she could answer them seriously.
