With her pale ears tucked into her light mane, Axelle wheezed softly against her brother. Her lungs were fighting as hard as they could to help her breath, but she could barely get in enough to stop her from coughing. Her light eyes were screwed tightly closed when she heard her brothers voice rumble through his body. The soft rumbling against her ear had her eyes opening and her gaze flicking over to a new mare, one that did not seem to be as evil as Octavius saw her, but Axelle knew she wore her heart on her sleeve as well.
Huffing out a cough, Axelle slowly pulled away from her brother and listened to his words before rolling her eyes. “I am sorry Miss for how he is acting.” Axelle finally spoke, her voice strained as she coughed. “My name is Axelle and this grumpy porcupine is Octavius.” Letting her body take a moment to recoup, Axelle slowly pulled in a breath before shaking her head, the air around her seeming to want to come into her lungs but unable to pass the test needed for it.
“We were washed ashore, running from metal monsters that were taking down our farm and our once owner set us free.” Axelle, as honest and sweet as she was, winced with her ears tucking tight to her head. “We were plow horses, but Octavius did most of the work while I tried to keep up.” That was not a lie. Axelle with her lungs as they were could not work as strong as her brother, but she had gave it her all when she had. He was the most important thing to her and she would never change that. These two were a packaged deal and Axelle would make that happen no matter where they lived.
