Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

in the deafening silence;

what's a king
to a god?

Rehoboam had been forced to adjust to Nahawi's constant absences from the Lagoon, to make allowances for his youth and inexperience. He knew that the weight of the role he had undertaken weighed on him, and so Reh tried not to add to it too much. He tried not to push, not to nudge. Resolved himself to planning to be a little more encouraging if Nahawi managed to get re-elected.

This latest, visit, however, had gone on for far longer than Reh had anticipated and it made him uneasy. It was not wise to be away during election season unless you were out recruiting, or you risked undermining your own campaign. Garmr was not the only one voicing objections, but the tobiano had certainly not lost hope yet. Nahawi wasn't facing that much competition for his role as boss and while a majority of the brothers were silent, Reh knew they were watching. And everyone's vote counted at election time, not just the ones who had spoken up during the campaign season.

Still, as Nahawi's call rang out through the Lagoon, Reh tried not to read too much into the nervous note in it. Whatever it was he had to say, best to get it done and over with now. He moved toward the Boss at a jog, his ears tipped back in wariness and slowed as he reached him. Wounds littered the young stallion's body but there was something vastly different about his carriage and attitude that was impossible to miss. Assuming it was another round of something small, Reh drew to a halt a short distance away with a minor incline of his head. "What now?" Despite the curtness and suspicion, there wasn't malice in his voice, only the long-suffering patience of someone who knew that good news rarely came of such anxious calls.
