Re(1): Magic City Court vs. Dania Court II

Those are interesting questions that I do not know the answer to.

I know that the MC ball sounds heavier and the Dania ball lighter. I wonder which bounces off the wall faster.

I know SteveM, as well as myself, have posited that the shorter court gives you less reaction time and therefore the game is faster. But I do not know that for a fact. And so I have stopped claiming it.

We need CraigG to do a scientific analysis on it, to find out once and for all.

One factor that I have been thinking about a lot lately is that the higher ceiling at Dania means that there can often be more acceleration on the ball due to gravity. Perhaps it is negligible, perhaps not. Someone smarter than me should weigh in.

The MC court is 120 Ft Long by 33 Ft wide. I am not sure how tall. Does anyone know?

Also, what are the dimensions of the Dania court?

Determining which ball bounces faster and how much speed they lose, at what rates, may be difficult.

Perhaps CraigG can do a frame-by-frame analysis to find out average speeds? I don't know. We need the numbers and we need a physicist!

I do know that the larger court seems to allow for steeper angles and to my eyes also shallower angles. That latter may be why Dania has so many more Chic-Chacs and Chulas. Also making the ball come off the back wall at a very shallow angle seems to happen more often at Dania. Perhaps the longer court facilitates that too.
