Regarding “Diaz” at the sound board Posted on April 6, 2024 at 08:19:50 PM by Stu Neiman
Jatna - I will admit you have struck a nerve.
The issues you mention can be resolved. We don’t listen to the broadcast and often find out about audio issues through the chat. Wrong yes “chasing countless people away,” doubtful.
In any case none of it is the fault of Diaz. Diaz left the program entirely of his own accord and against our wishes at the end of the 2022 season. He was one of the original 2018 players who were given the unreasonable task of learning to play a sport professionally with 6 months experience. He decided to “move-on” and pursue a new life in Colorado after living his whole life in South Florida.
On April 17th 2023 he was walking on the side of a road when he was struck by a car. His head hitting the A-pillar and cracking his skull front to back. 3 brain bleeds and a 12mm SDH. He survived multi hour brain surgery and was intubated and comatose for 11 days. 1/4 of his skull was removed to allow for swelling and the craniectomy / bone flap remained out through August. The bone was replaced and he came back to Florida to live with family and recover and we of course gave him a job in the program - for all I care he can be a greeter, or sit and stare at the floor as long as he’s alive and continuing his truly miraculous recovery from a life changing TBI. He has handled this situation with a grace I can’t accurately describe.
Point is - the issues you mention exist independent of Michael Diaz. We’ve always kind of screwed that stuff up and if that is the reason the program fails so be it. It’s been over 20 years since the sport of Jai-Alai broke even for even a season and while production details are important they are one part of a larger picture that, in fact, has nothing to do with Diaz.
In the future please direct your criticism only at individuals who you know to be responsible for the deficits you want attended - and if you don’t know who is responsible just use me as a place holder or reference “the program.” Replies:
