Re(2): Hall of Fame #134: Remembering Ocala absurdity Posted on April 6, 2024 at 08:28:17 PM by alecs1974
40yrfan; that is unreal. I heard the same thing happened to a fan at Ft. Pierce who was taking professional photographs of the players in action. A security guard escorted him to the lobby where he was met by the general manager and was told "we don't want publicity, now leave!"
Back in the late 90's, I had fond memories of Ocala Jai Alai when Dale Popp was running the place. It was such a fan friendly experience. Dale bought me lunch and after the performance, we looked at old Jai Alai photos in his office and afterward, he said "get your cesta! We'll throw the ball around!". I did not want to leave. I was having the time of my life. I'm so glad I was able to have that memory before things went downhill. At that time, you could make a nice weekend getaway to Ocala. Go to Silver Springs, Wild Waters them park and then to Ocala Jai Alai. Some of life's simplest things mean the most. Replies:
