We have an 85 year old man who picks up all the yard waste every Monday morning and during this clean-up/inspection period this can be overwhelming volume wise. He's had several surgeries lately so I've been helping him pick-up bags & limbs for 140 houses. It's often 2 huge trailer fill-ups and it takes 2-3 hours (we have to rip open each bag and distribute the leaves over open ground).
Anyway, last Monday we're doing our thing and stop to pick-up 10 bags and a pile of limbs/branches. I grab a huge handful of the branches and when I stand up there's a 4-5 foot snake in between my feet. He's just sitting there, I'm looking at him, he's looking at me. He was (I think) what is called a "Pine Snake". Looks pretty dangerous but he's not (I think).
The temp at the time was about 46 degrees & breezy so we figured he climbed in there to escape the wind. He was cold & stiff just sitting there looking kinda pitiful. So, I got a shovel out of the trailer and scooped him up and took him about 30 yards to some thick woods.
All the way over to the woods he just picked up his head and looked around like he was enjoying the ride! Replies:
