Surprise visit from at least 9 evening grosbeaks, male and female, to the sunflower feeder in Victoria Road this morning. Haven't seen them in weeks -- seems a bit late for them to be here?
Female purple finches have been here since at least Saturday; males for at least a couple of weeks. NO sign here yet of female redwinged blackbirds.
Red-breasted nuthatch also still here, busy caching sunflower seeds in the same excavated slot in a cherry tree branch that the white-breasted uses -- and where bluejays and squirrels retrieve them. Replies: There have been no replies.
