Merchants in the Carden Plain IBA area will be displaying signs saying "Welcome Birders" and will have copies of the Carden Nature Guide available for visiting birders. It's part of an IBA project to build mutual support between environmentalists and the local community. The project aims to encourage visitors to slow down and use local resources to fill other needs while enjoying the pleasures of superb birding.
Whether you need bug dope, a good meal, a tank of gas, flowers or an antique or a place to stay, we hope you'll follow the "Welcome Birders" signs and support the efforts of the local community to make birders feel at home.
