Carden Alvar Nature Board by Bob BowlesGolden-winged Warblers

There were at least 3 today, in a little area northwest of Lake Dalrymple. Two were in the willows and nearby trees on Dartmoor Road where it meets MacKenzie, and it was easy to see them as they dashed around a few feet from the ground and right at the roadside. The third was heard on MacKenzie in the trees on the west side of the road a bit north of Dartmoor. Other highlights of this midday adventure were a wild turkey on Dartmoor and a Merlin and a singing Yellow-throated Vireo on MacK.
I have yet to hear a Veery, but some Canada Geese already have goslings.
