The air is heavy as you make your way through unknown territory, as you pause to sniff the air a drop of rain falls onto your nose. It is soon followed by another and another and soon the rain is pelting down in sheets, soaking you to the bone. The clouds are an angry purple and the menacing drumming of thunder rolls over the sky. Squinting your eyes against the blinding water you find yourself at the edge of a large, dark pine forest. You are too desperate for shelter to notice the scents that mark the border and plunge in, and nearly into the chilly stream that runs through the territory. You veer away and as you are shaking the water out of your fur you notice a large pair of icy blue shards gazing at you. The storm has passed now and beams of sunlight filter through the thick canopy of pines, illuminating a massive male wolf not three feet away from where you stand.

His pelt looks like a bad patchwork job of black and white and beneath them you see large, hard bands of steely muscle and you know this is a warrior for his torso is marred with many battle scars. His banner curls over his back and his lips are drawn, exposing sharp ivory daggers. When he speaks his voice is deep and dominant, like the thunder you so recently heard.

"Wolf, you have found yourself in the terra of the Andere Seite Pack. I am Eclipse, king of this land."

It is only then that you notice another pair of lanterns gleaming in the penumbra and a dark-pelted fae slinks out into the clearing to stand next to the king, her own banner waves and her green and blue eyes bore into you. She is the same size as most males and a crisscrossing pattern of scars show that she too can take care of herself. Her voice is cold and has a snake-like sound to it yet you can see they are both fair rulers.

"And I am Nephthys, queen of Andere. We don’t care much for strangers so you must make your choice, Submit to us now or flee our lands and never return. If you fail to do either you will have little time left to regret it."

The formidable pair pierces you with their gaze and you feel as if all your secrets spill out before them. You are left with a decision now. Will you submit and take refuge in this dark forest or will you flee and never know what secrets these trees hide? Make haste, you can see that the pair grow tired of waiting.

Boredom really sucked. Especially for a wolf that was the type who liked more than simple conversation to keep her busy. I mean, if that was the only thing, then beggars can’t be choosers, but Kimani would never be desperate enough to be a beggar. Honestly, she kind of hoped to run into Nephthys … she had not had a heart to heart (or, whatever you might call their talks) since returning with her mate, Plague. And her sister was one of the closest wolves to her … it was close between her and the ebony male, actually. She wished to speak with her not only about the new alpha male, but also about her. How she had been since the lynx attack and all. Or even how her adopted son, Kimani’s nephew, Zanzibar was doing. Maybe even ask her how she was feeling about the issue with Eclipse. Kimani let a small snarl develop in her throat … that male would have not one, but several scars to add to his collection if he returned. And not just from Nephthys, since honestly she was not sure how she would act to her ex-mate returning … but an angry sister would be there to greet him. The queen of Andere Seite shook her skull … so many things to catch up on.

Her feral yellow eyes were touched with the insanity that ran through her family. They looked out through the darkness that wrapped the territory. It was night, and though that made it dark, she was in the darker shades of black. The shadows, which were there … you could not see them at night so much as feel them, but they were there. Darker, and more comforting for the femme. As she moved through the shadows, she marked a tree along the border here and there, but was over all glad to smell the strong scents of her and Plague combining to mark the land. It was such a powerfully combined scent … such a show of a strong, united front, that only a fool would think to try and defeat it. Figures, a call from some foolish male came to her ears then, wanting a challenge for alpha-ship. With the roll of her piercing eyes, and a quick turn on her heels, Kimani was half way there within seconds.

Was it really necessary? To disturb something that was so well put together … something so sacred? The fools always seemed to choose the worst times … then again, was there ever a good time? Well honestly, Kimani kind of liked an excuse to tear into someone’s hide. But not when she had other things on her mind. She had already been on a mission to find her sister; she hardly needed to deal with someone beckoning a fight they could not win. Biting off more than they could chew … ha, as if they would really get a bite. The femme already brought her tail over her back, like a scorpion ready to strike. When the male came into sight, she emerged from her shadows … letting the silver moonlight bath onto her large form. Yes, she was larger than most female, some males too, and had bands of steely muscle that would warn anyone like the idiot male that they were making a mistake. Even under the pale moon, she could see he was a light brown color, with blue eyes that would soon glaze over. Mustard yellow eyes noticed where he had stepped, and a crazed smile twitched onto her lips. The insanity filled her eyes now … she became something else … no longer the same wolf who had just been lurking in the shadows, or even the wolf who had been with Plague in the Caverns. Her expression was something that would make The Joker cower away.

Oh my, what have you done now, lovely?

Her tone was oddly calm, contrasting greatly with the rest of her. A high call came from her jaws … something between a cackle and snarl, before she lunged, pinning him easily down. A sickening crack was heard as her front paws both landed on his skull, most of her muscle weight included, and her back legs stood above his torso. He was probably struggling, but in no way could he hurt her, and she had a sturdy hold, so he wasn’t moving her either. Kimani did not kill him right away … she waited long enough for him to enjoy that pain. Just long enough for him to realize that it was the last thing he would feel in this life. Craning her neck down, she swiftly took hold of his throat, ripping it out in another quick motion. She then spat it out at his lifeless corpse … stepping off, and licking blood from her lips.

The crazy fire was still burning in her eyes. It filled ever fiber of her at that point, and led her to making a call for her sister. Throwing back her skull with just enough force not to snap it right off, Kimani’s ragged tone rang out. Nothing beautiful, nothing meant for just anyone. It was haunting, yes, and would chill most wolves down to the bone. She made the call beckoning Nephthys to her. Honestly she was hardly what one would call “normal” but after the call she studied the corpse for a moment. It had been his jaw that had snapped when she landed on it. A dark chuckle that was nearly silent escaped her before she dragged it to the border as a warning. He had not only challenged, but had the stupidity to cross the border. That made him fair game, and she took it. So, he would be used as a warning to anyone else who felt like they wanted to trespass into Andere Seite. She would not mind making another kill or two, but may as well give the other fools a chance to rethink. She then moved back into the shadows but in the same general area, waiting for her sister to arrive.
