To all Retirees,
There has been a tenative settlement agreement. According to my sources, all Retirees will receive a check for $1,500.00 in settlement. Widows will receive $750.00. This was voted on by your Pension Board. When will it be paid depends on the judge. If he fells this is an equitable settlement, he will approve it. The question is when will we receive the checks? I believe that the 243 Retirees who "OPTED OUT" could receive a check by Thanksgiving. The other Retirees may have to wait until next year, maybe as long as May 2010. Am not sure about the time frame but I think I have it right. The settlement will be posted on the Pension Board web site in the next few days. You will be able to read the details of the settlement. That is the word as I understand it. I do not understand why all Retirees can't be paid at the same time. We will have to see how this shakes out.
