Ice Mountain

The Ice Mountain is much smaller than Wolf Mountain, yet climbing up it is far more difficult and shouldn't be attempted in winter. Some creatures collect the shiny stones at the peak of this mountain for necklaces.

The wind was still today, something rare for winter in this region of the mountain. A thick layer of hardened snow already capped this peak, making the jagged landscape smooth and white much like the southern border of Ice Pack. It was this similarity that allowed the young wolf to tread paw with skill and precision, thick coffee and gold marbled fur sticking out boldly on the frozen landscape. The Ice Pack native climbed the steep faces, sticking to the narrow ledges and carefully picking out the stable holes to climb to the next ledge.

Caesar inhaled slowly through his nose, using a continuum of the Fire blessing to warm the air around him. The wolf's weak lungs savored the warm air, taking a moment to just breath before he continued on. Golden eyes stared up at the smother, silky white face before him, looking for any major indents that led up to the ledge that hung several feet above his head. Soon enough the wolf picked out a rough line and jumped, placing his paws in the cubbies hidden by snow. Caesar wasted no time in climbing up the rock wall, jumping to the higher ledge at las and looking around.

The wolf took in another deep breath of air, lungs stinging with the pain of exertion. The only way to live through ones weakness was to learn how to cope with it, that was the only reason why the young wolf forced his weak lungs into such cold, harsh environments. The practice gained with his fire blessing and the workout he got on his lungs was good for him, made him stronger.

Caesar's gold eyes glanced around the wide ledge, much larger than the last few he'd climbed to. He was about four fifths of the way up the tall mountain, a good enough distance traveled to call for a rest. Luckily the brute's eyes landed on a small cavern in the rock face, a good place to take said rest. The wolf jogged over to the cave, ducking into the dark shadows under the low ceiling. He lay down quickly, feeling the pain in his lungs surge and causing him to cough rather loudly. The cough turned into a fit of coughing, the young wolf's body shaking with each raspy sound. When the fit finally subsided, Caesar lay for a moment breathing in short, quick breaths to calm his heart. The brute's body trembled with residual pain, eyes closing as he focused on breathing slow and even.

The wolf opened his eyes, realizing now that maybe he'd pushed too far this time. Caesar continued to breath slowly, golden eyes focusing on a spot in the center of the small cave. Dark gold flames sprouted from seemingly nowhere, needing no fuel to crackle and pop warmly, flooding the cavern with dim light and heat. The wolf gazed into the fire for a long moment, resisting the urge to cough caused by the sting of his over-worked lungs. Life was a set of trials he was determined to pass.
