Sample: David wasn’t the only soul he worried over. There was his own to consider, the fact that he could never be redeemed because of who he was. Murdering was a serious crime, he did it on a daily basis. If there is a heaven it wouldn’t let him in with such a soul, it is too imperfect for eternal rest among the angels. No, he would probably try to eat one of them. But he couldn’t help but wonder where he would go beyond this life, if he could not be saved then there was only one other option for someone like him; it would be the same for all of them in the end. Daniel had never deserved an ending such as this one, he never deserved to burn eternally in the darkest bowls of the underworld.

But that was what they all said.

Everyone claimed they didn’t deserve such an end, maybe that was why some people didn’t believe. They were afraid that if such a thing existed then they would end up in the wrong place, so instead they pretend it isn’t there. At least that was what his parents had told him when he was younger, they had said some people didn’t want to come clean. They wanted to justify the sins they had condoned in their life, they wanted to believe they were good people regardless. But being a good person never got you into heaven, it never got you farther than the bus stop. And Daniel still ponders all these answers from time to time, especially when he begins to doubt the afterlife.

Would God condemn those who could not help themselves? Would He strike down the few monsters who must eat flesh and drink blood to survive? Well, if that were the case than every loon and murderer would be walking through the gates. Heaven wouldn’t be such a pleasant place if those sorts got into it and started causing all sorts of trouble for the hosts. Daniel knew, with a chilling truth, he would never see heaven when he finally gave up the ghost.

He is snapped out of thought by the woman. Those brown eyes stray over to her, the mouth tightens into a firm line of disapproval for her attitude. When she points her index finger at him all Daniel can do is smile, but not that same easy smile he had been giving Gianna. Instead his lips contort into wicked points at the end, those gleaming teeth barely showing in a wild grin. The pale skin around his eyes crinkles and yet still there is no emotion in the eyes themselves, just a lifeless stare that would penetrate her very core. Gianna seems less threatened by the other woman, but Daniel has tensed up in every part of his body until she walks off. And when Gianna speaks he jerks his head violently in her direction, the face softening up considerably.

“Yeah, a real rain cloud”. Daniel says hotly and lifts an eyebrow before returning his attention to Gianna and her wicked smile. There is a spark in his eyes, a faint wolfish spark that didn’t say human. Daniel thought for a moment, scratched his chin, and then nodded to himself before sliding from the booth. “Come on, I have the perfect place, if you trust me”. Then he holds out his hand for her and helps her gather whatever is hers.

Once they are outside he slides his cold hand into her own, not exactly holding it but trying to guide her through the darkness. Both their breaths cling to the night air, frozen in time around them. It is still now, without much traffic passing through, and he leads her down towards the high school on the left. “Now you’re probably wondering why we’re at a high school of all places”, there is a brief laugh and then his hands are over her eyes. “Just follow me and you’ll be just fine. I promise”. As far a promises can go that is, he thinks bluntly to himself as he leads her past the shrubs of the school yard to the broken bottom window.

The old pool was located down in the basement, still filled with water. He hadn’t done anything interesting for quite sometime, and he figured swimming in the old school at night would be somewhat amusing. He told her to close her eyes when he couldn’t keep his hands over them anymore, and he helps her slide down the through the window to avoid the glass shards still clinging to the frame. Daniel stands her squarely in front of the glimmering pool. “Don’t open your eyes until I tell you to, got it?” He smiles even though she cannot see him and begins to remove all his clothes except for his boxers before taking a flying leap into the pool. The water splashes around the edges, it may have even gotten her wet, but it felt nice even in winter. “Open up, Gianna”.
