The earth supplied us with everything we needed, but it wasn�t enough to satisfy our ambition. We made nations where families would suffice and made kings of our fathers. We made war on our neighbors to expand our empires and become legends among horses. How far we'd come was never far enough.

We always want more than we have.

When the earth corrupted the first of us, we worshiped him as a god. His power seemed limitless; he could reshape the land as he saw fit and turn the tides of war with but a thought. This was the greatness we had been dreaming of all along - if only it had been the blessing we thought it to be. Driven mad by his own power, he turned upon his people and decimated their ranks, killing himself in the process as well.

One by one, other horses inherited the Corruption and the tremendous power it imparted, and one by one they fell to the same crippling madness. No longer are the mages among us trusted so easily. Too many have died by their hands.

Ambition still drives us as strongly as ever to conquer our foes and enter the annals of legend, but we know now that our power comes at a terrible cost.
