S U B L I M E

A little chain of islands has been left untouched for so long that extraordinary things are happening to the inhabitants. There are great soaring horses and sparring unicorns on the beaches, there are strange colors and elders who speak of a time when everything was normal. Once long ago the Sublime Islands were a place where wild horses roamed free. They once could cross land bridges or swim in the shallows, it was typical and uninspiring. Then it seemed to happen over night. Foals dropped in the spring and exhausted mothers turned to see winged children and some with horns growing out of their foreheads. Mortified some of the children were killed and others were banished to uninhabited islands. The ones with wings flew off the cliffs and into the volcanic region and those who couldn't fly penetrated deep into the forests.
