Northern Hawk Owl and Bohemian Waxwings Posted on January 9, 2011 at 04:06:53 AM by Bob Bowles
The Northern Hawk Owl that was first reported during the Carden Alvar Christmas Bird Count last Sunday is still hunting in the wetland just south of Road 6 just east of the Road 6 and 46 junction.
Bohemian Waxwing numbers increase daily and there are now large flocks on the Carden Alvar, some flocks with more than 300 birds. It is difficult to give a total number of Bohemian Waxwings in the area but there are probably well over 3,000 birds.
There are also good numbers of Common Redpolls and I would ask if anyone observes a Hoary Redpoll in these flocks that they post it. Replies:
