Carden Alvar Nature Board by Bob BowlesSparrows, phoebe

A small flock of tree sparrows overlapped with a singing song sparrow in the yard today, and a field sparrow was singing in the field north of Jim Webster's quarry on South Mountain Road. The phoebe sat on a branch overlooking Grass Creek, flicking its tail and calling its name. A yellow-bellied sapsucker worked on the bark of a maple outside our gate.
