Carden Alvar Nature Board by Bob Bowlesresearcher??

I've driven by the Cameron Ranch a number of times this summer and seen the same small grey car in the parking spot each time. Last time I stopped to look around and saw that there was a notice on the dash - "Field Work, with permission" or some such. Anyone know who and what was doing/being researched? I assume shrikes.
