Ice Mountain

The Ice Mountain is much smaller than Wolf Mountain, yet climbing up it is far more difficult and shouldn't be attempted in winter. Some creatures collect the shiny stones at the peak of this mountain for necklaces.

What did she want? There was a question she couldn't possibly answer. She wanted quite a number of things. But, at that very moment, she just wanted Tycoon to accept her, to let her help him. His biting questions rang in her head. Why did she do what she did so many years ago? There were other males she could have chosen for a mate, other males who would have probably loved her in return. But, she picked Tycoon, knowing full well what she was taking on. Love was not part of their little equation, love never ever factored into it. So, why did she ever love him, knowing what he was like? That was a mystery even to her. And, she was getting what she deserved. She had gotten what she deserved. She had suffered because of him for so long, but she willingly did so. Sh
e took the pain and the torment and the suffering like she knew nothing else. And, maybe that was the case. She had been so young when she agreed to their arrangement, she knew nothing of loving another, save for the love her adopted parents gave her. But she had been so new to the ways of the heart.

Star flinched once more as he flung his words a her again. Bother him.. That's what she was doing. Simply bothering him. When he said that the children weren't dead she breathed a small sigh of relief. She was afraid that he may have spoken the truth when he said they had been, But, she wondered why he bothered saying anything about it at all. She looked up, more in shock than anything, as he nudged her head up. She hadn't expect that. There was that question again. Why didn't she run? Did he really want her to? He put on a whole big production of trying to get rid of her, of trying to drill it into her head that he was better off alone. But she just couldn't believe it. She could run, she should have run, but she made the choice not to, because he wouldn't get by on his own. And she didn't figure him the type to have many who were close to him.

She looked at him for a long moment in silence. "I know there's no fixing you." She had never wanted to fix him. He was broken, oh was he ever broken, but maybe she preferred that. Maybe she liked all those imperfections and many, many faults. They did, after all, make him who he was. "I never wanted to fix you, to change you.." She trailed off. She didn't know how to finish that sentence. So, instead she skipped it and moved on. Why did she come back? She knew that answer. The mountain had been her only real home. She had a family here, wherever they were. Parents, adopted, but still they cared about her.. But was that why she returned after so long? Was it just for that adopted family that took her in so long ago, called her theirs? Or was there more to it? Of course, she missed her children as well. They were all she had since ahe never bothered trying to start a new family. Those children she hadn't seen for so long. Surely her missing them wasn't what did it either. Maybe it was all of that and more. She had grown up here, and in all her wanderings there had never been another place quite like it. "I returned because I missed this place. I missed the children." Wherever they were.. "I maybe even missed you." Oh, Star, she was a fool. She knew it was foolish to say such things, and yet she couldn't stop those words from escaping. So, instead she rushed on hoping he didn't really hear what she had said. "I haven't run because you don't scare me, Tycoon. Your act may scare off everyone else, but it won't work on me. I know you a little better than that." A little, well, it was the truth. But she still knew so little about the male. "I just want to help you. Why must you fight so hard to push me away?"

((So sorry if there's a ton of errors in this post. I typed it up on my phone, and while I'm pretty sure I caught them all, I do tend to miss things sometimes.))
