The Big One
My friends and parents always told me that riding would be a lot of fun.
That may be true for the cowboys who never drew the Big One.
The Big One is the only name I have ever heard him called.
I guess the last ol’ boy who drew him was so scared he balled.
They say he’s big and white with horns that nearly curl in your face.
He takes those cocky boys with the fancy chaps and puts them in their place.
Whether this creature is a fairytale myth, I do not know.
But him and I were about to meet at my home town rodeo.
They backed the trailer up and dumped the entire herd out of the rig.
I seen him then looked up at my dad and said, “Daddy I did not know they bred sheep that big.”
