fear cuts deeper than swords

Aria counted it to her benefit that neither of them showed any signs of aggressiveness or anger at her unplanned intrusion. Indestructible as she might feel at this age that didn't necessarily make it so. There was an undeniable fire in the chestnut woman's eyes, or Rahella as it were, and she couldn't help but notice that though the two stood near one another there was still a distance between them. They were definitely not too familiar with one another which could count to her advantage.

Her eyes locked on the stallion however when he said her fathers name. To say she had hoped to meet someone here who had known about him or the Woman-he-loved when she came to this place was obvious, but to have someone ask her outright like this was unthinkable. The lopsided smile she had inherited from her sire fell onto her face. “He is, sir. I know this used to be his home and that's why I came here. To see where he lived and to find out more about him.”

For as long as she could remember her father had regaled her with stories about the Islands and all those who lived upon it, up until the end of his time here that is. When she was born and the Woman-he-loved died the stories ended. “Did you know him?” She knew that her father had given the land to Dante instead of fighting for it. That was when he had left the Islands and taken her with him. He had never truly spoke of the stallion he had left Paradise to so she was unsure if he would actually know much about him.
