I make myself listen to this sad song
One that six months ago made me smile,
One that was one that was a love song that reminded me of you
I listen to this song now to prove that I am where I was before I met you,
strong enough, and have moved on, have moved on to where I was before I met you
Yet It’s all because of you
All to prove that I am not thinking about you;

I see the friends I introduced you to and am now alone;
I will laugh and spend time with them and act the me from California
All so I don’t know how much you meant to me, all so I don’t have to think about it.

I drive the road we once drove, and I re-live the memories by
traveling down the roadways of my own thoughts,
with a close shield at my side,
but I do so telling myself I am doing it because these roads are safe
