Craigen waited patiently for an answer but no returning sound came. The stallion’s black trimmed ears flicked around to try and catch any sounds and indeed he did as the pale stallion came into view. He could tell the anger upon the older male and it made him wonder what he had just stepped into. Enemies wasn’t what he was looking for but he wasn’t about to turn tail and run either. Staying put where he stood upon the water’s edge, Craigen turned to fully face the stallion as his slightly flared nostrils took in his scent. By how strong it was upon this land he knew this was the lead stallion.
The words that escaped the stallion were neutral but Craigen could tell he was standing upon a narrow ledge. What he would say would either make an alliance or easy enemy out of this older man. The young bay didn’t back down any but instead gave a respectful nod of greeting. “I am Craigen; lead stallion of the Arch” he introduced. “I’ve never been to Salem Island and wished to see who its lead stallions are” Getting straight to it seemed best and also being truthful. Craigen needed no other reason to come here than that alone being as he had no desire to steal mares nor try to claim lands. He had a perfectly good home and a few mares of his own that he cared for quite dearly. Endangering that wasn’t on his to-do list.
As he spoke, Craigen’s chocolate brown eyes studied this stallion that stood before him. They were nearly the same height though this man stood just a bit taller. His build was thick as well and his hide was lighter than the sun baked sands. He wondered what the name of this man was and if he would be open to the possibilities of alliances or would he demand Craigen leave immediately? Only time would tell and so he waited patiently for a reply.
